Overview of The Tower Flexibility Options

Bladed utilises a finite element (FE) model to simulate the flexibility of the tower. It incorporates a modal reduction technique to enhance computational efficiency. The linear finite element method is enhanced by non-linear geometric stiffness models that account for the effect of small structural deflections on dynamics.

Users have the option to model the tower in two different ways. These are located in the Modelling property of the Tower component, which includes the following StructuralModellingType options:

  • ModalStructuralModelling: In this method, the tower's structural modelling combines a finite element model with modal reduction.
  • RigidStructuralModelling: Option to make the tower completely rigid.
